| How it's made | Minimally processed, oat groats are the whole grain from the oat plant. They are processed to remove the husk and any farming debris. | Steel cut oats are whole oat groats that have been cut in half, or thirds. | Thick rolled oats are steamed and then pressed flat. The thicker the oat, the longer they take to cook, and the chewier they are. | Quick cooking rolled oats are steamed and then pressed very flat. Because they are very thin, they take less time to cook, but also don't hold their original shape well. | Scottish oats are stone-ground oat groats. If the stones were closer together, it would form oat flour. This forms a smooth textured cereal that's packed with whole grain goodness. |
