Mango & Passion Fruit Flan

Fruity, refreshing, and packed with tropical flavors, this flan is infused with mango and passion fruit. Flip it onto a plate to let the caramel run down the sides and coat the flan! Top it with coconut flakes and a sprinkle of lime zest, and you've got a super fresh and light dessert!

Let's take the classic caramel flan to the tropics!

Creme caramel is one of my favorite desserts, so when summer rolls around, I love giving it a fruity twist. This version is infused with mango and passion fruit, and topped with shredded coconut!

It's creamy, fruity, and fresh with just the right amount of tartness from the passion fruit. Plus, the caramel on top pairs so well with the mango and coconut.

Fun fact: this is one of the many recipes I had to remove from the blog a few years ago when Google started cracking down on what they considered "thin content." Basically, they started looking at the overall quality of a site, not just whether individual posts were helpful and well-written. If they considered some content too thin or low-quality, it could hurt the site as a whole. So, like many other blogs, we ended up removing quite a few recipes, mostly because it was faster to remove them than to rewrite the whole post.

So, this one is making a comeback! I've revamped the recipe, re-tested it, and given it a fresh set of photos and process shots.

⭐️ What Makes It So Good

  • Fruity, slightly tart, and super fresh. If you love traditional caramel flan, this version is basically its fruity, tropical cousin. Mango brings natural sweetness while passion fruit brings a touch of acidity.
  • Creamy and soft. I've done a lot of tweaking to get a flan texture that's not too soft or too firm. Plus, if you've tried the first version, you might remember that it used cornstarch. I got rid of it and adjusted the amount of agar agar to get an even smoother texture!
